A 34-year-old Regina man is facing a list of charges after a search by police turned up a sawed-off rifle and a bag of ammunition.
According to police, officers executed a search warrant at a home on Froom Crescent on Friday, and members of the S.W.A.T. (Special Weapons and Tactics) team joined the operation because police believed there were firearms in the home.
That belief turned out to be correct.
The people inside the home initially refused to leave, police said, but soon changed their minds and came outside.
Among the people who were in the home was 34-year-old Eric Philip Stevens, a Regina man who police said was wanted on a warrant out of British Columbia for aggravated assault.
A search of the home turned up a loaded, sawed-off .22-calibre rifle, police said, and a bag full of “various types of ammunition.”
Stevens is now facing numerous firearm charges, police said, and made his first court appearance Tuesday in Regina.
On Friday police advised the public of an active police operation on Froom Cr., and advised people to avoid the area. Later that day, police announced the situation had concluded.
