Police in Regina are asking for help from the public after a rash of smashed windows in the Whitmore Park and Hillsdale neighbourhoods.
According to police, there have been more than 20 reports of broken windows on homes and vehicles in the neighbourhoods since July 29. Police said they believe at least seven of the incidents could be related, and the windows appear to have been broken using a BB gun or a similar device.
“Investigators are canvassing the affected areas looking for any video that may show suspects and lead to identification of the culprits,” a Regina Police Service spokesperson said in a statement.
Police asked anyone who lives in the neighbourhoods to pay close attention to any suspicious activity they may see, and urged anyone who’s been a victim of a property crime to come forward and make a police report. Reports can be made over the phone, police noted, but not via email or social media.
The police service also offered some tips that could help keep windows in one piece.
“Good lighting can be a deterrent to crime,” police said. “If possible, park vehicles in a garage or on a driveway, as opposed to on-street parking.”
