At least 23 incidents of auto theft, fuel theft, and use of stolen credit cards in southern Saskatchewan and Alberta are related, according to the RCMP.
The investigation started July 8, when a suspect in a stolen pick-up truck rammed an RCMP vehicle in Wynyard, and made a getaway after abandoning the vehicle.
After the chase, an investigation by the Saskatchewan RCMP Crime Prevention and Crime Reduction Unit turned up “at least 23 connected incidents, which occurred between July 6 and 16, 2022 in central and southern Saskatchewan, Hannah, AB, and Kelowna, B.C.”
According to police, the crimes they’ve connected include stolen vehicles in Yorkton, Kipling, Tyner and Bethune, stolen vehicles that were later recovered in Chamberlain, Yorkton and Tyner as well as Kelowna, B.C., suspects running from police in Whitewood, Foam Lake, Yorkton, Belle Plaine and Swift Current, vehicles broken into in Regina, and the use of a stolen credit card in Hannah, Alta.
“We now know that this string of July incidents is connected and we’ve been able to identify two individuals police officers would like to speak to,” Monica Deters, acting officer in charge of the Crime Prevention and Crime Reduction Unit said in a statement.
The suspects are a man and a woman, RCMP said. The man was described as blonde, with a slim build and a tattoo on the left side of his neck. The woman, police said, has blonde hair with dark roots and a slim build.
Anyone who spots the suspects was asked to contact their local RCMP detachment or Crime Stoppers.
