A power outage was the reason for precautionary drinking water advisories that popped up around Saskatchewan on Saturday.
According to an email from the Water Security Agency, a prolonged power failure affected the SaskWater Elbow Water Treatment Plant.
“Loreburn, Strongfield, Elbow, and Line 19 are all connected together by a common source, the SaskWater Elbow Water Treatment Plant,” the email read.
“Douglas and Danielson (provincial parks) are located on the same power grid as the communities above. This grid had numerous power outages.”
Elbow, Loreburn, Strongfield and Danielson and Douglas provincial parks all were covered by the advisories.
The advisories were to be in place until Thursday morning in the communities, and until Wednesday at the provincial parks.
The advisories reminded people to boil water for at least one minute before use. That included water for drinking, for washing fruits and vegetables, and for brushing teeth.
It was recommended that people use an alternative water source that’s known to be safe.
