The Red Wings will host the Kindersley Klippers in Assiniboia on Friday.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders cut defensive back Justin Cox yesterday after allegations of domestic violence.
Regina police charged Cox, the Riders’ outstanding rookie of the year, with assault after officers were called on Sunday to the report of an assault against a 23-year-old woman.
The club acted swiftly, as the CFL made it clear Cox would not be allowed to play, citing the player’s contract.
This move has been mostly welcome by the fans.
Others took issue with the fact Cox faced other charges in the U.S. when the Riders picked him up.
Some fans said they were sorry to see Cox released.
