Saskatchewan’s Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit has charged a 44-year-old Regina man with luring a child.
Police allege the man posted signs offering to trade hockey and Pokemon cards. According to a police media release, the victim in the case responded to one of the accused man’s ads about trading cards.
Police said officers executed a search warrant at the home of Jared Babey on Friday and seized electronic devices for further examination.
“Members of the ICE Unit believe there may be additional victims,” the police release said. “They are encouraged to contact their local police service and make a report. Police are also cautioning the public to be vigilant when responding to advertisements. Parents are asked to discuss safety precautions with their children.”
Babey was charged with luring and breach of an undertaking. He made his first appearance in Regina Provincial Court on Monday morning.
