A man from Dillon is wanted by the RCMP after a woman’s body was pulled from the Beaver River in late August.
According to the RCMP, officers in Meadow Lake responded to a report of a truck submerged in the river on Aug. 24. When police arrived, a man was standing on top of the truck, and he was pulled from the river and taken to hospital for treatment.
With help from heavy equipment operators, the truck was removed from the water. Inside, police found a dead 20-year-old woman from the Dillon area, as well as a loaded handgun.
After a lengthy investigation into the circumstances of the crash, police charged 36-year-old Bryan Janvier with dangerous driving causing death, impaired driving, possession of a firearm in a vehicle, unsafe storage of a firearm, and several other gun charges.
“A warrant has been issued for Bryan Janvier’s arrest,” the RCMP said in a statement. “Investigators are actively trying to locate him and ask members of the public to report information on his whereabouts.”
Janvier was described as 6-foot-1 in height and weighing 220 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes, the RCMP said, along with a prominent tattoo on his cheek and a missing front tooth.
“If you see Bryan Janvier, do not approach him,” the RCMP said.
Any sightings can be reported to the RCMP, and anonymous reports can be made through Crime Stoppers.
