The last Sunday in September is Police and Peace Officers’ National Memorial Day, and officers from around the province will gather in Regina for a parade and wreath-laying ceremony.
The parade — which is open to all active and retired police and peace officers — starts at the Royal Saskatchewan Museum on College Avenue at 10:15 a.m., before proceeding south on Albert Street to the Legislative Building.
The wreath-laying ceremony will happen on the Legislative Building’s front steps at 11 a.m.
“The general public is invited to gather along the parade route as well as in front of the Legislative Building for the reading of the honour roll and the wreath-laying ceremony,” Saskatoon police said in a statement.
The memorial day is meant to provide a formal opportunity for Canadians to express appreciation for the service of police and peace officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
