A call to Regina police about a man passed out behind the wheel of an idling car resulted in the seizure of weapons and drugs.
According to a release from the Regina Police Service, officers responded Monday at about 8:45 a.m., to the 1200 block of Ninth Avenue East after getting a call about a possible impaired driver. The man was found passed out in the driver’s seat.
Officers saw signs of potential drug impairment, so the man was taken to hospital for a blood test.
Police subsequently searched the car and found a shotgun, more than 100 rounds of various ammunition, a crossbow, bolts for the crossbow, and a substance later confirmed to be methamphetamine.
The 27-year-old man was charged with impaired operation of a conveyance by alcohol or drug, unauthorized possession of a prohibited device (the crossbow), unauthorized possession of a firearm, and possession of a scheduled substance (the meth).
He made his first court appearance Tuesday.
