The identity of the man found dead in Wascana Lake on Thursday remains a mystery, and now the Regina Police Service is asking for the public’s help.
In a media release Friday afternoon, police asked anyone with information about the man’s identity or how he got into the water to come forward.
Police said the man appears to be approximately 60 to 70 years old and approximately 5-foot-3 tall with a medium build. He was wearing a grey, long-sleeved quarter-zip top, a black Columbia fleece jacket, a black North Face rain jacket, black pants, green, blue and white Asics running shoes, and grey crew socks.
Police officers and firefighters went to the lake Thursday at about 3:20 p.m., after getting reports a body had been found in the water near Willow Island. Firefighters recovered the man’s body and an investigation by police and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service began.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Regina Police Service at 306-777-6500 or Regina Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
