9:30 –The Saskatchewan Government has announced they will be setting up a crown corporation for online learning for the 2023/2024 school year. This is with the goal to bring more online students to one platform instead of a variety. This has created some concerns around requirements from independent online schools such as Flex Ed. Education Minister Dustin Duncan joins Gormley to discuss this plan.

10:00- After the Saskatchewan Government’s announcement to centralize online learning, an independent program known as Flex Ed has some concerns. Flex Ed is a virtual school with certified teachers that provides education in a nontraditional way. Parents who have busy schedules, families that travel, and home-schooled students are just some of the people who benefit from this. Ann Cook, principal of Flex Ed tells us how centralized learning might affect them.

12:00– Saskatoon historian Terry Hoknes joins Gormley to discuss his latest research. He has read and indexed the first 91 years of the Star Phoenix newspaper dating back to 1902. It took Hoknes 1735 days and over 10,000 hours. He tells us about the interesting stories he’s found in his research.
