Saskatchewan has the second-lowest unemployment rate in Canada.
Statistics Canada’s monthly job report says the unemployment rate in the province in November was 4.2 per cent, down from 4.6 per cent in October.
Saskatchewan’s unemployment rate in November was second only to Quebec’s 3.8 per cent. The national unemployment rate was 5.1 per cent.
The unemployment rate in Regina last month fell to 4.5 per cent from 5.0 per cent, while the rate in Saskatoon dropped to 4.0 per cent from 4.1 per cent.
In a media release, the Saskatchewan government said the province added 11,800 jobs in November, an increase of 2.1 per cent year over year.
The release said Saskatchewan set several records for the month of November, including employment (574,300), full-time employment (464,900), female employment (271,000), off-reserve Indigenous employment (61,300) and off-reserve Indigenous full-time employment (50,400).
The province said the off-reserve Indigenous unemployment rate fell to 6.6 per cent, an all-time low. Employment was up 1,500, marking 24 consecutive months of year-over-year increases.
