The La Ronge RCMP made four arrests after an attempted robbery near the town early Thursday.
In a release, the RCMP said its investigation of the incident revealed a group of people pulled over on Highway 165 when they saw a man waving for help beside a disabled SUV. When the group pulled over, the man and another man pointed guns at the group and ordered them to leave their vehicle.
The group was able to drive away without suffering any injuries.
After a search of the area, the RCMP found two men walking on the highway and two more in the SUV that was in the ditch.
Officers searched the area and found eight guns hidden in the snow and a gun safe in the vehicle. The RCMP said the safe and the guns were reported stolen earlier Thursday from a La Ronge home.
A 29-year-old man from the Paul First Nation, a 31-year-old man from North Battleford, a 22-year-old man from La Ronge and a 21-year-old man from the Moosomin First Nation face a number of charges. They were to appear in La Ronge Provincial Court on Thursday.
