Two teenagers were arrested Tuesday after allegedly assaulting and bear-spraying another youth in the Cornwall Centre.
According to police, officers were called to the shopping mall just after 6:30 p.m., but when they arrived on the scene the officers saw several suspects running away on foot.
“With assistance from members of Cornwall Centre Security, police followed the suspects in a foot chase and arrested two male suspects on Saskatchewan Drive,” Regina police said in a media release.
One of the teen suspects was carrying “two bladed weapons” when they were arrested, police added.
The suspects were 15- and 16-year-old boys, police said, which means they cannot be named due to a provision in Canada’s Youth Criminal Justice Act.
The victim, also a minor, was treated at the scene, police said.
The two youths who were arrested are now facing charges of assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon, and the 15-year-old suspect was also charged with carrying a concealed weapon. The duo will make their first court appearances in February, police said.
