The Blades have lost four straight games after a 5-4 shootout loss to the Swift Current Broncos on the road Friday night.
The silver lining was that it was the third straight game where the Blades have picked up a point, keeping them near the top of the East Division standings.
Saskatoon was able to open the scoring as Charlie Wright put away his second of the year almost five minutes into the game.
Matthew Ward then tied the game for the Broncos late in the first period.
Conner Roulette and Tanner Molendyk then gave the Blades a two-goal cushion in the second before the Broncos’ Brady Birnie brought them back within one with under a minute left in the second frame.
That was the beginning of three unanswered goals by Swift Current, as Caleb Wyrostok and Josh Filmon found the back of the net to give the home team its first two-goal lead.
A late powerplay goal from Egor Sidorov tied it late for the Blades sending the game into overtime.
Nothing was decided in the extra frame, leading to a shootout where Filmon was the only player to score, giving the Broncos the victory.
The Blades will return to home ice when they host the Red Deer Rebels at the SaskTel Centre on Saturday night. Puck drops at 7 p.m.
