Highways in some areas of Saskatchewan were growing increasingly treacherous as Wednesday wore on.
Just before 5 p.m., the Highway Hotline said travel wasn’t recommended on a number of highways south of Swift Current, but those advisories were lifted shortly after they were issued.
However, the Hotline did say there were icy and slippery sections as well as snow drifts and slush on several highways in that area, including Highway 4 from Blumenhof south to the U.S. border, Highway 13 from Aneroid to Admiral, Highway 18 from Val Marie to the intersection of Highway 628, and Highway 43 from Vanguard to the junction with Highway 4.
While some advisories were lifted, travel wasn’t recommended on Highway 7 between Rosetown and Fiske.
The hotline also said visibility was a problem on a number of highways in the the province.
There weren’t any advisories on the Highway Hotline for major highways in the province, but pictures taken on Highway 11 earlier in the afternoon showed icy sections in the passing lane near Findlater.
