A 34-year-old Regina man who was ordered by the courts to avoid areas where kids under 16 gather is in police custody after violating that order.
According to Regina police, on Thursday at about 7:35 a.m., a man was seen speaking with students at a high school in the 1000 block of College Avenue. Police didn’t identify the school, but Miller Comprehensive Catholic High School is in that block.
At about 8:20 a.m., a man entered a high school in the 1200 block of College and was seen speaking with students there. Again, police didn’t name the school, but that’s the block where Balfour Collegiate is.
“The male was ushered off school grounds by school staff,” police said in a release. “The incidents were reported to RPS School Resource Officers, who began an investigation.”
At around 11:15 a.m., police got a call about a man causing disturbances at two stores in the 1300 block of Broadway Avenue. Police said the call suggested the man had tried to shoplift items from one of the stores.
When officers arrived, the man had left. They eventually identified the suspect, arrested him at his home and subsequently determined he was the man who had been at the high schools.
The man has been charged with four counts of failing to comply with a probation order and two counts of failing to comply with a prohibition order regarding children.
The man was to appear in court Tuesday.
