A 34-year-old Regina man is facing numerous charges following a domestic assault call on Friday.
According to Regina police, officers were called to the 700 block of Rae Street around 1:34 p.m. One caller told police a woman was screaming and another caller reported a man hitting a woman in the face.
Upon arrival, officers found a 35-year-old woman inside the home holding a small child. The woman left the house safely with the baby and they added the she did not sustain serious physical injuries.
Officers proceeded to investigate inside the home where they heard a man screaming. Police said the man, Jerry Raymond Keewatin, allegedly pointed a gun at the officer before going back into a bedroom.
Keewatin was negotiated out of the house by the officer in charge outside and was taken into police custody. Police later found a loaded shotgun in the house.
Keewatin faces nine charges, including assault, possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace, careless use of a firearm, use of a firearm in the commission of an indictable offense, pointing a firearm, possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, possession of a firearm obtained by crime and two counts of possession of a firearm contrary to prohibition order.
Keewatin made his first court appearance at 9:30 a.m. Monday morning.
