A traffic stop ended in a scary incident for RCMP Thursday night on Highway 5 west of Canora.
Around 11:25 p.m. RCMP pulled over a vehicle then suddenly the driver reversed, ramming the cruiser.
According to police, the driver turned around and hit the cruiser again then got out with an axe and hit the cruiser while yelling threats.
Back-up units from Canora and Kamsack were called and the suspect was arrested.
Kristopher-Lee Steenman, 34, of Buchanan faces 17 charges in connection and will remain in custody until appearing in court Monday in Yorkton.
Steenman and two officers suffered scrapes and bruises in the incident.
Canora is about 50 kilometres north of Yorkton.
