For the first time in years, people in the Queen City will get to experience a festival dedicated to celebrating cultures from all around the world.
Mosaic – A Festival of Cultures returns to Regina on Thursday after a three-year hiatus.
“I see that there is a new energy and enthusiasm among Mosaic volunteers,” said festival chair Nish Prasad. “We have mesmerizing performances never seen before, new cultural displays, (and) new food and drinks on the menu.”
Prasad said the Latino Pavilion will be making a return to the festival this year, but the Caribbean Pavilion, typically one of the most popular, will not be at this year’s festival.
This is Prasad’s first year as chair after sitting on the festival’s committee since 2017.
“I’ve been involved with Mosaic for, I would say, 15 years in different capacities,” Prasad said. “I started as a volunteer at the Indian Pavilion, selling drinks, food and setting up the pavilion.”
Prasad said it’s always been a challenge to find enough volunteers, and it’s been especially difficult to do so after the pandemic. Even so, the chair said there’s still a lot of excitement for Mosaic’s return.
“It’s going to be a great event, and our volunteers are looking forward to having you out there,” he said.
