A 48-year-old man from Calder has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of a 61-year-old man from the same community.
Curtis Sokoloski is also charged with offering an indignity to a body. He was to appear in Yorkton Provincial Court on Tuesday.
Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes arrested Sokoloski in Russell, Man., on Monday and charged him in the killing of Bentley Baumung. The victim’s family has been notified of his death.
On Sunday, officers from the RCMP’s Esterhazy detachment were called to a home in the northeast part of the detachment area to conduct a wellness check. When they arrived, they found a man dead inside the home.
A murder investigation was launched with the assistance of the Saskatchewan Coroners Service.
