Nasty weather could be in the offing for southern Saskatchewan on Tuesday.
Just after 4 p.m., Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the Swift Current region.
That followed severe thunderstorm watches for areas around Moose Jaw, Pense, Shaunavon, Maple Creek, Val Marie, the Cypress Hills, Herbert, Cabri, Kyle and Lucky Lake.
Watches are issued when conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce hail, high winds and heavy rain. Warnings mean the storms are imminent or already happening.
“Large hail can damage property and cause injury,” the advisory said. “Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles.
“Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.”
