Regina police are asking for the public’s help in finding a murder suspect.
In a media release Thursday, police said 30-year-old “Juma” Daniel Drie Atem was wanted for first-degree murder in connection with a killing that occurred early Saturday near the General Hospital. A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for his arrest.
According to police, officers responded just before 2:30 a.m., to the 2100 block of Broad Street for a report of an injured man. The man was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
Police didn’t release the victim’s name or the nature of his injuries.
Atem is described as being 6-foot-3 and roughly 140 pounds with a thin build, black hair and brown eyes. Police said he has ties to Calgary and Winnipeg and may have travelled to those cities.
Police said anyone who sees Atem shouldn’t approach him, but instead should call police at 306-777-6500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
