Residents within the Douglas Provincial Park distribution system are currently under a precautionary drinking water advisory.
The Water Security Agency issued the advisory on Friday, as it believes there may have been a breach of the water treatment plant reservoir during a break-in at the treatment facility.
The WSA said an unknown substance may have been added to drinking water supplied by Douglas Provincial Park.
As a result, it’s asking residents not to use the tap water for any purposes until further notice.
The advisory says to not use tap water, not drink the water – use bottled water instead — and not try and treat the water yourself.
Potable water has been made available at the park; people should call the general inquiry line at 306-854-6266 for the location.
In addition, water is also available at the Co-op in Elbow, along with a bulk water filling station at the Elbow Water Treatment Plant. Residents are asked to bring a clear container if they intend to use the filling station.
The WSA did not say how long the advisory will be in effect.
Douglas Provincial Park is about 110 kilometres northwest of Moose Jaw.
