A home on a First Nation west of Meadow Lake was surrounded by RCMP Friday morning after reports of a man with a firearm entering the residence.
Residents of the Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation are being asked to avoid the area as officers secure the scene.
Loon Lake RCMP said in a news release both Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation School and Ernie Studer School enacted their hold and secure procedures because of how close they are to the home.
Police added it’s unknown how many people are in the home, but an investigation is continuing.
Several RCMP members remain on scene, and the Mounties are asking the public not to announce where officers are stationed around the home.
More details will be added as the story develops.
