Some residents of southeast Saskatchewan may not have access to 911 service during a SaskTel outage that starts at midnight.
According to the Crown telecommunications company, the outage will begin at midnight and run until 6 a.m. on Thursday while workers perform network maintenance.
SaskTel said during that time, landline services will be unavailable in and around Broadview, Cowessess First Nation, Kahkewistahaw First Nation, Marieval, Moosomin, Ochapowace First Nation, Sakimay First Nation, Wapella and Whitewood.
At the same time, SaskTel said wireless service will be affected in the areas around Clayridge, Cowessess First Nation, Kahkewistahaw First Nation and Ochapowace First Nation, while Internet service won’t be available in Kahkewistahaw First Nation, Marieval, Ochapowace First Nation, Sakimay First Nation, and Whitewood.
The Saskatchewan RCMP said residents in the affected areas may not be able to contact police or emergency services during the outage.
“If you are in need of police service and your phones are not working, visit your local RCMP detachment,” the Mounties said in a statement.
“The Broadview RCMP is located at 156 Qu’appelle Road in Broadview. The Moosomin RCMP is located at 1102 Carleton Street in Moosomin.”
SaskTel apologized in advance for any inconvenience, and thanked customers in the affected areas “for their patience and understanding.”
