The City of Regina is poised to switch its waste services over to winter mode.
This coming Saturday will be the last day for the free Yard Waste Depot located near the landfill. Until it closes, people can drop off leaves, grass clippings, bush and tree trimmings and other yard waste.
Those materials also can go into residents’ green food and yard waste carts.
“Residents are reminded that plastic garbage bags are not compostable and yard waste must be removed from plastic bags at the Yard Waste Depot site,” said a release from the city. “Great alternatives include paper yard waste bags or reusable containers.”
Starting next Monday, collection of the green bins will move to every other week on residents’ designated collection day. Weekly collection will resume in the spring.
Also next Monday, the dump will move to its winter schedule. It’ll be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and will be closed on Sundays.
Gates at the landfill close 15 minutes before the facility closes, which will allow vehicles to unload and exit the landfill by closing time.
