MLAs left the chamber at the Legislative Assembly in Regina on Monday as proceedings were disrupted by a protest.
According to The Canadian Press, dozens of protesters in the gallery chanting for a ceasefire in Gaza were escorted out by security after disrupting the assembly during Question Period.
Israel is fighting a war in Gaza against the terrorist group Hamas following devastating attacks on Israeli civilians in October, killing 1,200 people.
From the gallery, the protesters reportedly shouted “Scott Moe you can’t hide” and “We can’t do with genocide.”
The group also reportedly called for the removal of an Israel flag flying in the building’s rotunda.
The Saskatchewan government has shown support for Israel since the attacks signalled the start of the conflict last month, including a $100,000 donation to purchase ambulances in Israel.
Other politicians in Saskatchewan have joined calls for a ceasefire in the conflict.
On Monday, the government announced that Holocaust education will soon become a mandatory part of the province’s high school curriculum.
