A Hudson Bay man is going to jail for defrauding the Saskatchewan Workers’ Compensation Board in the largest fraud case in history against the board.
Larry Hayter was sentenced on Thursday at Court of Queen’s Bench in Melfort to two-and-half years in prison for cheating the board of $137,377.76.
The 69-year-old was found guilty of filing two false claims and returning to work while in receipt of benefits.
In addition to jail time, he was also ordered to pay back the full amount to the board.
