An Alberta man is facing charges after an incident Thursday in Arborfield that included the alleged ramming of two RCMP vehicles.
According to the Mounties, officers from the Carrot River detachment responded to a report of a man attempting to steal fuel from a large tank in Arborfield.
Police were told the man was confronted by what they called “a property representative,” and the suspect responded by chasing that person in a vehicle. The individual wasn’t hurt and the suspect took off.

“Officers located the suspect in a parked vehicle in Arborfield and approached it,” the RCMP said in a release. “The suspect then rammed two police vehicles and struck an unoccupied parked truck. The officers in the rammed police vehicles received minor injuries.”
After the suspect’s vehicle came to a stop, officers arrested him. Police allege the man assaulted the officers while he was being arrested and also resisted when officers tried to put him into a cell. As well, he refused a demand to give a breath sample.
The 29-year-old man from Fort Saskatchewan was charged with one count each of assaulting a peace officer, failing to stop for a peace officer, failing to comply with a breath test, resisting a peace officer, and dangerous driving.
He’s scheduled to appear in Melfort Provincial Court on Monday.
