This year’s warm winter weather has made it easier to go outside, but it’s hurting business at Fresh Air Experience, a Regina outdoor store.
Fresh Air sells outdoor gear, jackets and equipment for a variety of winter sports like skiing, snowshoeing, snowboarding and more.
Some meteorologists are predicting a brown Christmas this year, and many areas across the province have seen historically warm temperatures.
Store manager Trevor Norgan said business this year is much slower as a result of the unseasonably warm temperatures.
“Our industry is really dictated by snow and weather,” he said. “We’re just not seeing the people through the door, and we’re just not seeing quite as many people shop here now.”
Norgan said inflationary pressures are also a factor, but they’re not as prominent. He said he’s also competing against online retailers.
“I think the biggest thing is people are probably shopping online a lot more,” he said.
