A Canadian company based in Saskatchewan has pleaded guilty to violating workplace safety regulations after a worker was seriously injured.
Agrow Canada Ltd. sells and rents pre-owned agricultural equipment. The company farm is located near Waldron, according to its website.
On Dec. 18, the company pleaded guilty in Melville Provincial Court to one violation of the Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.
The company was fined for failing to ensure, as an employer, that a required safeguard remained in place at all times. The incident happened on Sept. 30, 2021 near Waldron when a worker was seriously hurt after stepping onto an energized auger.
The company was fined $32,857.14 with a $13,142.86 surcharge to total $46,000 as a result of the charges, according to a release from the Government of Saskatchewan.
