“An act of terror that is absolutely despicable.”
That’s how federal minister of public safety Ralph Goodale described the attack that happened at a concert in Manchester Monday night.
Goodale said thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims.
“The entire civilized world will stand to condemn this type of senseless, brutal violence particularly targeted at young people.”
He said the country, along with other countries around the world, look at their own security measures when an event like this occurs.
“Everything is being done, and done properly, to keep Canadians safe.”
He said he was informed that Canada will remain at a medium threat level, where it has remained since the fall of 2014.
Goodale said special steps are taken during any major event, which includes the Canada 150 celebration later this year.
“All of our agencies and authorities will be doing their job very, very carefully.”
Celebrations will take place across the country as the country celebrates its century-and-a-half of confederacy.
