The Western Canadian Crop Production Show is officially underway in Saskatoon.
According to Leigh Ann Hurlburt — the agriculture manager for Prairieland Park — all of the heavy hitters have exhibits on display.
“There’s some big pieces here from John Deere, Bourgeault (and) SeedMaster. There’s quite a bit of big machinery here,” Hurlburt said on The Evan Bray Show on Tuesday.
Hurlburt mentioned this year’s show has 338 exhibitors and 1,007 different trade show spaces.
“We’re bringing you the latest technology in precision farming, fertilizer, handling, storage — anything you need to put in a crop,” she explained.
For this year’s show, organizers have created a new award that will be presented to the best innovators.
“Our community thought we really needed to add something to the show, so we added the innovation award,” Hurlburt said. “When people applied to exhibit, they were able to enter into the competition. The people who applied for this award, there was some very interesting new ideas out there. It’s very impressive.”
Hurlburt couldn’t talk specifically about what types of innovations people submitted as she didn’t want to spoil anything before they announce the finalists and winners on Tuesday night.
For those attending this year, Hurlburt said there is free parking, but notes the lot can fill up.
Because of that issue, show organizers are making it easier for attendees to get to the front door.
“We do have a courtesy shuttle that’s driving around, so watch for it and it’ll bring you right to the main doors,” she stated. “When you get here, our admissions are ready for you and we look forward to seeing you at the show.”
The show wraps up on Thursday at 4 p.m.
