She now works to help children become better readers and tries to tailor her approach to thoughtfully meet the needs of each child. She has been vocal online about the frustrations with the Saskatchewan education system, however, and joins Evan to share what she saw during her time as a teacher.

11:30 – It used to be common to see Saskatchewan names on NHL rosters, but these days it seems Saskatchewan producing athletes like Connor Bedard is becoming more rare. Author and Professor Emeritus Neil Longley tackles this topic in his book, “A Whole New Game: Economics, Politics and the Transformation of the Business of Hockey in Canada.” Longley joins Evan to discuss why Saskatchewan’s professional hockey player numbers have declined to its lowest point ever.

12:00 – Researchers at McGill University are working with the Canadian Light Source in Saskatoon on a technology called organic electronics. The technology uses materials that are cheaper to produce than what is used in most consumer electronics and researchers are experimenting with manufacturing techniques to see how bendable electronics can be created at a more reasonable cost. Researcher Benoit Lessard joins Evan to tell him more about his team’s work.
