As is always the case with every Stanley Cup final, there are some great story lines when it comes to the 2017 championship.
The Penguins can become the first team in 19 years to win back-to-back titles. It’s an accomplishment that shouldn’t be overlooked.
Perhaps co-owner Mario Lemieux and GM Jim Rutherford should share in a playoff MVP award should Pittsburgh claim the puck. It isn’t easy to keep a group of players together in the salary cap era. They have done it.
On Nashville’s side, the last team to secure a playoff spot was the quickest to get to the final. The Predators have lost just four games and have not lost back-to-back contests in the 2017 post season.
The Predators are taking exception to being called the “Cinderella” team. Nashville is out to prove to others what they have always believed – that they are among the league’s best.
I expect the Penguins to win, in what should be a very tight exciting series.
