A brief but intense hail storm pelted parts of Saskatoon Friday afternoon, sending people running for cover in parking lots and neighbourhoods.
Residents in Erindale reported golf ball-sized hail, while others saw pea- and marble-sized stones in their areas.
650 CKOM reporter Brent Bosker was just walking towards the Canadian Tire at Preston Crossing when the hail hit.
“The storm hit so fast it sent everyone running, including myself,” he said.
“It was hitting the roof so hard, it sounded like a plane trying to take off.”

Environment Canada upgraded their severe thunderstorm watch to a warning shortly after the storm reached the Nutana neighbourhood.
For most areas the storm was past within five minutes, leaving lawns looking like a fresh snowfall had just come down.
The warning for Saskatoon was downgraded back to a watch at 3:14 p.m.
Environment Canada said a cold front hitting an unstable air mass over the province was making conditions ripe for severe thunderstorms with large hail, strong wind gusts and the possibility of funnel clouds.
