The talk around Vince Young is very interesting around Saskatchewan.
Some believe Young will make the Riders, no matter how well he plays in training camp and the pre-season.
I’m not so sure although, after Saturday’s mock game, Chris Jones was definitely coming to Young’s defence on why he looked like the fourth – maybe third – best quarterback of the five that stepped on the field.
Kevin Glenn and Bryan Bennett are clearly the first and second quarterback through the first week of camp. Brandon Bridge and Vince Young are seemingly fighting for the number three spot.
Which begs the question, does it make sense to have a 34-year old Young be the third-string quarterback? If Jones thinks Young will improve to the point of being a starter, then sure.
It sounds like the head coach isn’t losing any patience with Young as Saturday was the first game-like action Young has played in the CFL.
Two interceptions and two time count violations highlighted Young’s day. But at least we now have something to compare it to when he takes to the field in his first pre-season game on Saturday.
