Regina man to 'make the most' of London trip after attack

A phone call from his mother alerted Trent Dickin something was horribly wrong in London.

The Regina business owner and his wife were at a show in Soho, a district in central London at the top of the West End, Saturday night and didn’t know anything about at an attack by the time they’d returned to their hotel.

“If I wouldn’t have gotten a phone call from my mother, I don’t think I would have really known much was going on,” Dickin recalled.

“She said, ‘Are you OK?’ and I was kind of taken aback. She said, ‘Well, there’s something – there’s been a terrorist attack on London Bridge.”

Dickin and his wife were in the hotel lounge and asked the bartender to turn on the TV. He said staff didn’t even know what had happened, so they all watched the coverage of the attack together.

He noted in the days after the attack, it’s been hard to tell anything tragic had happened.

“We were at Camden Market yesterday and there was a million people there, so it’s not like people are inside hiding,” he told the CJME Morning Show Monday.

“Everywhere the streets are packed with people. I’m honestly not seeing any fear out of the British folks.”

Dickin said this won’t change how long he and his wife will be in London, telling the Morning Show they had a jam-packed day ahead of them.

“We’re going to make the most of it.”
