A teenager from Saskatoon was killed in a crash northeast of Calgary, Alta. on Friday.
Alberta RCMP say two vehicles collided on a stretch of Highway 21, about 50-kilometers west of Drumheller and that one of the vehicles was from Saskatchewan.
Police say heavy hail was falling in the area when the crash happened.
The 16-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the scene while a 67-year-old woman in the same car was airlifted to hospital in Calgary. The STARS helicopter could not land at the scene due to the weather and an alternative landing zone had to be set up.
Another woman in the car was treated for non-life threatening injuries. The lone occupant of the other vehicle was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
650 CKOM has learned the girl was a member of the local Highland and Irish dance community and was on her way to Calgary for a competition.
