Winter weather may make a return this week in northwestern Saskatchewan.
According to a special weather statement from Environment Canada, a “messy mixture of rain and snow” is expected to begin Monday night with rain, and is expected to continue through Wednesday, with the rain possibly turning into snow on Tuesday.
The area covered by the special weather statement begins just north of La Ronge and Nipawin and stretches to the Manitoba border. Included in the area are La Ronge, Montreal Lake and a number of northern communities.

As much as 25 centimetres of snow and 30 millimetres of rain could fall during the storm, the weather service warned, with the highest rainfall expected in the area of Southend.
“There remains some uncertainty as to when rain will switch to snow,” Environment Canada noted. “This will greatly impact rainfall and snowfall amounts. Rainfall or snowfall warnings may need to be issued as certainty increases.”
