A Regina woman has a long road ahead of her after she was involved in an alleged hit-and-run on Thursday.
Sarah McDonald was hit by a vehicle while on her way back from her lunch break. According to Regina Police, officers were called to 10th Avenue and Park Street around 12:30 p.m. on Thursday after they received a report that a pedestrian had been hit by a silver truck.
McDonald was taken to the hospital with injuries that police were describing as serious but not life-threatening. After an investigation by police, they were able to locate a 37-year-old Moose Jaw man who police allege is responsible for the incident.
The Moose Jaw man is facing a charge of failing to stop after a collision that resulted in bodily harm and is scheduled to appear in court on July 15, 2024.
Jess Charbonneau is one of Sarah’s coworkers at Regina Automotive Warehouse, and she and her other coworkers are trying to raise money for Sarah while she is away from work in the hospital. She said that McDonald is recovering but may be confined to the hospital for a while.
“She’s got some broken bones—for sure, a broken shoulder, a broken pelvis, and some facial lacerations. She went in for surgery last night, but they’re waiting to see how severe her other breaks are and if she’s going to need surgery to repair those other injuries,” said Charbonneau.
She said that they are asking the public for donations to help support Sarah while she’s in recovery.
If you’d like to donate, you can do so through Sarah’s Go Fund Me Or by visiting the Regina Automotive Warehouse with a cash donation at 1835 Park St., Regina.
