As the province prepares for summer vacation, people heading down to the lake this weekend may arrive to find their dock underwater.
Frequent rain in Saskatchewan has caused higher water levels at lakes near Prince Albert.
Patrick Boyle, executive director for communications and client services at the Saskatchewan Water Security Agency (WSA) said Northern Saskatchewan has experienced some low-level flooding as a result of the rainfall over the weekend.
“We’ve experienced more than double the normal amount of precipitation for this time of year,” said Boyle.

Boyle explained it is important to know if there is expected flooding in your area so one can avoid areas with high flooding levels. Boyle expressed that it can be dangerous to stay around flooded areas.
In a release made by the WSA they are advising the public of “potential out of bank flows and flooding of low-lying agricultural land downstream of Anglin Lake along the Spruce/Little Red River.”

“Increased water levels/flows will continue to be observed along the Spruce/Little Red River over the coming days…Local tributaries including Bell Creek and Halkett Lake are also contributing to the higher-than-normal flows.”
Boyle expressed we can expect the water levels to start to lower over the next few days, “in the next five days probably, it should work its way through the system.”
Trips down to the cabin may be postponed as Weather Canada has reported possible weekend showers.
