8:30 – The fire in Jasper has forced hundreds to evacuate from the town of Jasper in Alberta, which has now seen major destruction from the wildfires that prompted the evacuations. The town of Hinton is just 76 kilometres away and has taken in some evacuees and is preparing for more. Mayor of Hinton, Nicholas Nissen, joins Brent Loucks to share what their town has experienced because of these wildfires.

Thousands have evacuated the town of Jasper and the Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) has deployed a virtual community assistance mobile pavilion to help offer general insurance information to those affected. National director of consumer and industry relations for IBC, Rob du Pruis, joins Brent Loucks to give an estimation of the damage for insurance reasons.
