While the Globe Theatre in Regina is finishing up its final renovations ahead of its opening on Nov. 27, theatregoers will have the opportunity to buy tickets a little earlier.
The theatre is setting up a kiosk in Regina City Hall where people can not only buy tickets early but also ask Globe Theatre representatives questions about the shows. Someone from Tourism Regina will also be on hand to offer advice on city attractions, dining options, and activities.

Heather Ervin is the director of development and community engagement at the Globe, and said the pop-up kiosk will be very important for the theatre.
“Due to the construction, we can’t be in our building until we’re having audiences there. So having a pop-up box office here at City Hall is incredibly helpful for our patrons to get them familiar with coming back downtown. Come down, buy your tickets here, go for lunch to one of our amazing businesses around the corner, and get excited about returning to the round downtown.
“It allows patrons who maybe don’t feel comfortable on the phone or online (to) have a place where they can come in person, ask questions, speak directly to one of our amazing staff members,” said Ervin.
The Globe is calling it the kiosk the Convenient Box Office, and it will be the only place for visitors and residents to purchase tickets in person for upcoming productions like Peter Pan and Women of the Fur Trade.
The Globe’s artistic director Jennifer Brewin said the renovations will be worth the wait.
“The new building has a handful of different kinds of elements to it that make making theatre even more magical. Some of it’s just in time-saving — we have this huge permanent grid, all our lighting operators and technicians can go up and lock the lights in and focus them and make them beautiful (and) they don’t have to climb up a ladder, move the light, and then climb down again. So it’s safer (and) it’s more comfortable,” said Brewin.
“We have a trap room, so we’ll be able to find magical ways of things coming up from below. It’s a simple thing, but the wardrobe is on the same floor as the stage. So when actors rush off stage, there are more opportunities for quick changes and creativity with what those double castings can be.”
The kiosk will be open until Oct. 31 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
