Sandra Masters is running for her second term as mayor with the goal of finishing up projects that are already started.
“I’m running for mayor in order to lead the city into the future,” she said.
Masters put forward her platform at the Cornwall Centre on Wednesday, focusing on improving safety, bettering infrastructure, addressing operational efficiencies and being more transparent financially.
Regardless of if she is elected or not, Masters insisted this would be her last time running for mayor.
“I think there’s a piece of this which it would be time to step aside and let someone else with renewed passion and vision to step into that,” she said.

Masters campaign narrowed in on moving and improving projects that come across council’s desk.
She spoke about how she would address financial transparency by introducing a dashboard that can track anything from construction on sidewalks and streets, to capital and operating budgets.
“We attacked sidewalk repairs this summer a way in which we haven’t done,” Masters said.
Masters would approach community safety by using compassionate outreach teams, introducing neighbourhood watch groups, and deploying a downtown police patrol team to work alongside Regina Police’s Alternate Response Officer program.
Improvements to city infrastructure would include upgrading city facilities with more energy efficient sources and extending road construction hours, she said.
“When things fail they cost more with more impact to residents,” Masters said. “That’s why improved city infrastructure is a continuous goal.”
Heading into the municipal election, Masters said she is committed to being the voice Regina needs to lead the city.
“While it may have been a bit messier than I would have liked,” she said. “I have got done or initiated most of what I said I was going to do.”
Masters was first elected as mayor in 2020. She is among 11 candidates running for mayor. Advance polls for the municipal election start on Friday, with election day on Nov. 13.
