An alleged robber carrying a firearm was arrested in Regina on Wednesday evening after quick-thinking employees used a security system to lock him in between two sets of double doors.
According to police, officers responded to the reported robbery on the 1400 block of Fifth Avenue, in the city’s Eastview neighbourhood, at around 10:30 p.m.

“Information received indicated the male suspect entered a retail business holding a firearm, before threatening to steal items,” the Regina Police Service said in a statement.
Police told 980 CJME the alleged robber ended up trapped in between two double doors near the entrance to the business after employees triggered a security system. When the officers arrived, he was still trapped, and police arrested him, seizing a firearm in the process.
The 25-year-old man is now facing charges including robbery, possession of a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, and breaching a release order.
He was scheduled to appear in Regina Provincial Court on Thursday morning.
