Don’t be alarmed if you hear loud bangs coming from Regina’s former Holy Rosary Community School from tomorrow — they are all part of the Regina Police Service (RPS) explosives training.
RPS said in a news release on Tuesday that its Explosive Disposal Unit (EDU) training is scheduled at the school on 14th Avenue from March 19 to 21.

Police said the RCMP EDU team will be also be there as part of the ongoing training designed to ensure officers can respond effectively and safely to explosives emergencies.
Live explosives will be used both inside and outside the building, RPS said, and there will be no risk to public safety.

The school closed permanently in June 2024 after engineers found irreparable damage to the school’s foundation.
When it closed Holy Rosary was the oldest school in the Catholic division at 109 years.
