It’s time for Duron Carter to stop being a sideshow and start being a star.
Since joining the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the off-season, Carter has caught only 16 passes for 156 yards and one touchdown.
He came with a reputation, as a receiver with lots of talent and a penchant for getting in trouble.
With the Montreal Alouettes he intentionally, during a game, bowled over Ottawa’s head coach and got into a dust-up with teammates during practice.
The Roughriders expected him to be a game-breaker and hoped he wouldn’t be a team-breaker.
But he’s veering again towards trouble.
In warmups before Saskatchewan’s 27-10 loss in Calgary, Carter crossed midfield to taunt Stamps defensive back Josh Bell, who pushed him back into his end. Carter was fined. Bell wasn’t. Carter boasted about “getting into” Bell’s head.
Carter should, instead, get the football, get some touchdowns and get some victories.
