People in Regina might need to look twice to believe it, but work is beginning on the site of the long-delayed Capital Pointe building.
A few people walking or working nearby expressed their surprise with comments like “finally” and “it’s about time” when they saw digging equipment in the lot that has been empty for four years.

Last week, Capital Pointe project director Greg Black announced that work to prepare the site will begin Oct. 5, and construction will start in earnest after Thanksgiving. He admitted that some people might need to see proof after so many delays.

The construction will be managed by western-based ITC Construction Group with Doublestar Drilling doing the shoring and excavation work. Black said the tentative schedule is to complete work within 32 months.
